About the Artist - Beth Campbell won the first art contest she entered when she was in Grade 7 with the helpful instruction from her school art teacher, Mr. Ernie Weins. Her cousin, Terry Oja had convinced her to enter a painting of a country windmill in her father's pasture in the Junior Farmer's Union Art Contest. The next year this young artist won an award for her country painting in a Credit Union Art contest. And she was hooked.
But then - life kind of took over as she moved from Saskatchewan to Ontario and back to Saskatchewan.
Now - many - many years later - this prairie artist has returned to her art and painting.
Beth grew up on the prairies enjoying country life just south of Elrose, Saskatchewan. Beth went to college in Saskatoon, then moved to Tobermory, Ontario where Lake Huron meets Georgian Bay on the tip of the scenic peninsula where the Chicheemaun Ferry docks to take travellers across Georgian Bay to Manitoulin Island. This is the scenic home of Bruce Peninsula National Park and Fathom Five National Marine Park. While there this artist lived on Flowerpot Island in the lighthouse keepers house for 2 summers.
In spite of having lived in this scenic location surrounded by many artists and painters, this painter still loves to work on artwork with a prairie theme - farm paintings showing country life.
Beth now spends the winters in Saskatoon and her summers in the country where she and her husband, Doug Carlson farm near Diefenbaker Dam.
This painter's love of peaceful country life on the prairies is depicted in most of her artwork.
Artist Beth Campbell works in various art mediums, including acrylic and pastel chalks. This painter has used acrylics to paint on various surfaces including leaves to produce her Painted Oak Leaf Series of Painted Cat Eyes. The leaf paintings are this artist's most popular art form.
Diane Greenhorne, a fellow Mayfair Artist introduced Beth and other artists to pastel chalk on artist sandpaper. Beth's Pet Portraits have been painted using the chalk pastels.
As an artist Beth has enjoyed painting portraits for her family. A Hockey Portrait was done in pastels for her niece Danielle. The Sleeping Father & Son portrait is a piece of artwork that depicts her nephew & his son.
Wildlife art - paintings of pets and other animals are art subjects that this painter has always had an artistic flair for. A true artist can paint the animal's soul in the eyes of the animal, so Beth Campbell spends time to perfect the eyes of her animal and wildlife art subjects.
Many of this artist's paintings have been reproduced as giclee art reproductions or art prints. Almost all of this artist's paintings are available as art cards.
Beth also utilizes her creative and artistic talents doing website & graphic design. Touching up old photos or combining photos in a photo collage or digital scrapbook are things that this creative artist has done for a variety of customers.
This artist feels that she has accomplished what she set out for if people smile and feel good when they view her art pieces and other work.
